The Big Book of Exclamations
By: Teri Kaminski-Peterson, M.S., CCC-SLP
Before we begin, go to chatterboxbooks.com or Amazon.com, put this book in your cart, now buy it…ALRIGHT, WE’RE SET! (You’ll thank me by the end of this post;]). Seriously though, this was one of the best finds I’ve ever found. My kids LOVE this book!! This book is written by an SLP (score!) and covers expressive exclamations in early language development. It doesn’t follow a story line but it doesn’t need to. Use your SLP brain to come up with gestures, prompts, and words to use while reading.  Also, the author gives ways to interact with your clients/kids at the bottom of each page to increase language opportunities. I LOVE THAT! The book takes you along a family’s day of waking up, eating breakfast, going to the park, taking a bath, and going to bed.  Each page offers endless opportunities of interaction. So if you can’t tell yet…I HIGHLY recommend this book! My kiddos laugh and laugh while we read it and I hear new words all the time from my littles with this book.  My client’s parents equally love it and purchase it when I share it with them.
